VEX IQ Competition Program

Description

Along with the launch of our company, TechX Robotics will also launch a VEX IQ Competition Program during the 2024-25 Season! The VEX IQ Robotics Competition (VIQRC) is geared towards Grades 4 through 8, and its game changes every year. While we will prepare for the 2024-25 season, you can get a better idea of the VEX IQ Competition by going to this Official VEX IQ Competition Website. Students in our program will be placed in teams of 2-3 team members. Each team will prepare from May through August to compete from September through February in weekend State Qualifiers to earn spots at the State Championship in March and ultimately the World Championship in May.

Mission

Our Mission is to inspire the next generation to collaboratively solve problems and innovate technology through competition robotics!

Goal

To accomplish our Mission, we clearly communicate to our team members that our Goal is to win the VEX World Championship! While we admit it might be too ambitious, it is definitely NOT ambiguous!

Method

Our Method is guiding students to:

  • Set goals in a clear manner.

  • Learn from losses in order to grow and mature.

  • Respectfully collaborate with teammates and opponents.

Application Process

The TechX VEX IQ Competition Program requires a full commitment from students and their families. This means that there will be many hours spent after school and on weekends designing, building, programming, and testing their robot with their teammates. Therefore, we are looking for students who are willing, able and capable of undergoing the rigors of this competition environment. Due to the demands of competition robotics, the application process is rigorous, and begins with completing this form which will be reviewed by the TechX Competition Committee. Upon review, the Committee will schedule a formal interview with potential students and their families.

PLEASE NOTE: While our 2-Week July Summer Competition Bootcamp called the “Summer VIQRC Bootcamp” is mandatory for all official members of our Competition Program, other students are allowed to take it too. Go to our Summer Camps page for more details.

Mr. Nguyen is an experienced VEX Robotics Competition (VRC) who led his middle school program to over 20 awards, 5 consecutive State Championships, and 4 consecutive World Championships as shown in the photo below. He dedicated so much time to training these students that many of were inspired to continue their VRC success in high school! As the cofounder of TechX, he is excited to take his experience to coach elementary and middle school students with VEX IQ, and eventually return to coaching VRC middle and high schoolers through TechX Robotics!
